Hispanic Journalism Fellowships

To Qualify: Open to juniors and incoming seniors with a demonstrated interest in pursuing careers in print or multimedia journalism One student will be selected for each semester.

Other: Deadline March 16. Free housing near National Zoo in Northwest Washington. Applicants will be judged on their analytical and English‑language writing skills and potential as journalists. The selected fellows will be placed with the Washington, D.C.–based Hispanic Link News Service, which covers national affairs with an emphasis on their impact on 49 million U.S. Hispanics.

Scripps Howard Semester in Washington program

Other: Deadline March 16. Six interns work as reporters for the Scripps Howard Foundation Wire in our downtown Washington bureau. We pay a stipend and provide free housing in furnished apartments in Northwest Washington near the National Zoo. We tour Washington journalism and government institutions, bring in guest speakers and meet weekly to discuss issues in journalism.

Traverse / Northern Michigan's Magazine

Openings: Editorial Intern Duration: Summer (40 hours per week)

Salary: $1,000 stipend (10-week commitment) For Credit: Mandatory

To Qualify: Juniors and seniors. Journalism majors preferred but will consider other communication majors. Credit only internship with a minimum requirement of 20 hours per week. Applicants should demonstrate strong writing skills and an interest in media. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed three or more journalism classes. A writing test is required.

How to apply: Cover letter, résumé, 3 clips/portfolio.

Other: Interns research and write short travel pieces about Northern Michigan, proofread, fact check and discuss story concepts. Interns must have a laptop and reliable car and are responsible for their own housing.
