To Qualify: Must be at least a junior with a goal to pursue a newspaper career. Must be nominated by journalism faculty, campus media adviser, newspaper editor or a minority journalism association, or have letters of endorsement from one of those.

How to apply: Application form, cover letter, résumé, unofficial transcript(s), six clips, two letters of recommendation, a color headshot photo and an essay (of no more than two pages) on why the applicant wants to pursue journalism.

Dow Jones Newspaper Fund

Freedom Forum

Kaiser Family Foundation

Salary: min. $500 / week

To Qualify: Previous internships are a plus. Strong writing skills and previous newsroom reporting experience are essential. Priority is given to journalists who have studied/reported on health issues and those who are bilingual and/or bicultural.

Other: The Media Internship Program provides an initial week-long briefing on health issues and health reporting in Washington, D.C. Washington Center for Politics & Journalism

Salary: $3,000 stipend For Credit: Optional

To Qualify: Must be at least second-term juniors. Applicants must demonstrate substantial interest in political journalism as a career goal. Strong preference is given to those with reporting, writing and producing experience.

How to apply: Application form, cover letter, résumé, list of references, no more than 20 clips, a recent photograph, and a 100- to 250-word statement on why the applicant wishes to participate in The Politics and Journalism Semester.
